Community

The residents and staff of QVSR make up a very diverse community and we endeavour to provide opportunities to empower our residents to become more involved in the local community and help them on the way to independent living.

As a seafarers mission we continue to provide a service that supports the welfare of active seafarers. This is done through our Cafe Maritime service which provides pastoral and recreational support to those who are at sea for long periods of time; helping to give them a sense of belonging to a wider community.

We also liaise with local authority health advisers and other local organisations and sports clubs to provide activities and health initiatives to our residents.

The local community is very supportive to QVSR, in particular, the Monthly Luncheon Club Fellowship. Those that participate regularly support us in fundraising activities and attend events such as our Tea Dances and the Annual Carol Service.

Our Emery Hall plays host to Poplar Methodist Church who hold their Sunday services and occasional circuit meetings here.
