Redevelopment

QVSR is currently engaged in its largest refit for over a century; the scale of this work matches the creation of our 20th century facilities in 1899-1902.

Over the years, many of the communal areas including the main reception area have been refurbished to provide a more modern and welcoming environment. However, by far the largest element of our re-development programme is the conversion of our bedroom accommodation – the “Queen Vic Refit” programme. The new rooms are durable, serviceable and modern and finished to a high standard of workmanship. The rooms are larger, newly refitted and include the addition of an en-suite shower and toilet facility.

Funding initially came from our carefully harboured reserves which enabled us to set quality standards from the outset; this has since inspired several grant makers to declare in our favour. In particular, Phase 3 was funded by a generous grant of £336,000 from the Royal British Legion.

Fundraising will play an increasing integral role in the completion of our development plans. Any contribution, no matter how small, can help make a real difference to the lives of our residents.
